Julius Tillery Receives William C. Friday Award

Tillery, a distinguished figure and leader in environmental, agricultural, and racial justice in North Carolina, was selected by the Park Scholarships program’s Class of 2022 for his outstanding advocacy for North Carolina’s agricultural and environmental sectors. He was presented with the award Oct. 15 during a ceremony in the Hunt Library Auditorium.

Among faculty doing research in this field are Stephen Kelley, the Reuben B. Robertson professor in the Department of Forest Biomaterials, and Richard Venditti, the Elis Signe Olson professor and associate dean of research in the college.

Researchers Eye a System That Uses Marine Microplastics to Get Rid of Marine Microplastics

Researchers from NC State and Cornell are working to develop a self-sustaining system that uses microplastics, tiny particles of plastic, to capture more microplastics. Among the investigators are Carol Hall, NC State’s Camille Dreyfus Distinguished University Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, and Orlin Velev, the university’s S. Frank and Doris Culberson Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.
