Take the Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge

HR Wellness and the Sustainability Office have teamed up to help you go green for the first Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge, which will take place April 1-22. This challenge is sure to bring out your inner earth-loving side. Read the challenge details below to learn what you’ll need to do to win a prize and qualify for a chance to sit at a reserved table at the Celebration of Sustainability in April. How the Challenge Works

  • Complete any two activities under each of the four main challenge categories below. Please complete activities during the challenge period, which is April 1-22. 
  • Download this Wolfpack Sustainability Challenge Card and use it to check off activities as you complete them. This step is optional.
  • Submit one of the forms below after you complete two activities under each challenge category. Check off or write in the activities you complete on the form. The deadline to submit one of the forms is 5 p.m. Monday, April 22.
    • NC State Extension and fully remote employees and those who work at off-campus sites should complete this form.
    • University employees who work hybrid schedules or report to the Raleigh campus five days a week must complete this form.
  • If you submit a form showing you completed two activities in each category, you will:
    • Be eligible to receive a wellness sticker. To claim your prize, follow the directions on the form you complete.
    • Be put in a drawing for a chance to sit at a reserved table at the Celebration of Sustainability on Tuesday, April 23, at 9 a.m. Eight winners will be selected to attend the celebration. They will receive recognition for completing the challenge.

Challenge Categories


  • Sign up to participate in a volunteer effort through Service Raleigh on April 6. The deadline to sign up is March 29.
  •  Participate in a community clean-up, gardening project or other service project in your community.
  • Volunteer at the Agroecology Farm and learn about its sustainable growing practices.
  • Volunteer at an environmental event in your community.
  • Reduce your use of single-use plastics and bring your own bottle, bag, straw or spork to work for at least three days.
  • Ride the Wolfline bus at least three times. See how easy it is to navigate campus by taking the bus to your next meeting or event. 
  • Take public transportation in your community if available.
  • Pick up litter in your local neighborhood. 
  • Attend the NC State Earth Day Clean Up or Clean Up Hike on April 22. 
  • Go walking, running, cycling or hiking for at least 20 minutes three days consecutively or nonconsecutively. Consider participating in a hike at Lake Raleigh on April 19.
  • Attend the Yoga at the Agroecology Farm event April 19 or any outdoor activity of your choice.
  • Attend a fitness class at the Wellness and Recreation Center, a free yoga session on Centennial Campus or a fitness class in your community. NC State employees can register for a free 30-day trial membership at the front desk of the Wellness and Recreation Center if they have not already used their free trial.
  • Try free pickleball on campus or play in your community.

Eat Well

  • Walk or ride a bike to the State Farmers’ Market in Raleigh or the farmer’s market in your community to buy local food.
  • Attend the Farm Feast at Fountain Dining Hall on April 4.
