Composting Begins at the College of Veterinary Medicine
Composting begins this week at NC State’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
An integral piece to CVM’s commitment to sustainability, compost bins will be placed within the CVM Main Building, the Research Building and the Terry Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center restrooms and breakrooms beginning Wednesday, July 8 through Friday, July 10. Faculty, staff, students and visitors can help NC State divert waste from the landfill and meet its sustainability strategic goals by composting the following items:
- All Food
- Organics (plant material/ flowers)
- Coffee grounds
- Paper towels & napkins
You can learn more about composting at NC State using this quick learning guide online and/or taking Composting 101 via REPORTER. Discover where our compost goes by visiting NC State Compost Facility & Research Cooperative and get an up-close virtual tour by watching this video, the Compost Process at NC State.
Composting is one of many approaches to achieve zero waste at NC State, which also includes source reduction, reuse, and recycling!
The College of Veterinary Medicine has been an active participant in each of these areas, including creating specialized recycling programs for both Plastic Film and Syringe Cases. For more information about these topics, please visit recycling.ncsu.edu which also includes an easy to use Recycling Guide. A Marketing Library is also available for additional flyers and graphics for the NC State Digital Sign Manager for Billboards that you can share!
