RecycleMania

RecycleMania

RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities. Over a set period, schools report recycling and trash data which are then ranked in various categories based on who recycles the most on a per capita basis. With each week’s reports and rankings, participating schools watch how their results fluctuate against other schools and use this to rally their campus communities to reduce and recycle more. In 2019, 300 participating schools recycled and composted 69.5 million pounds, which prevented the release of nearly 999,254 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (MTCO2E) into the atmosphere. This is equivalent to preventing the annual emissions from 20,895 cars!

NC State participates in RecycleMania by hosting the #RecyclePACK social media contest and hosting various educational & awareness events during the 8-week competition.
