8:30 am-12:30 pm
As a part of Service Raleigh and in coordination with the Great American Clean-up, NC State University will host the 6th Annual Rubbage Ride on Saturday, March 28th. You can sign up to participate in the Rubbage Ride project during which participants travel campus and the surrounding community by bike, picking up litter and beautifying campus along the way. We have had over 150 participants each year take part in this fun, competitive event.
So what will you do?
Participants will pick up as much litter as possible as they ride their bikes (or walk) campus and in the surrounding area. Participants will return to the Carmichael Gym by 11:45 am to sort their rubbage into trash, recycling and compost. Lunch and prizes will be provided after the event!
10-15 bikes will be available on a first come first serve basis. However, if you do not have a bike or cannot ride a bike, you may walk around campus picking up litter or just be there for the fun!
If you are interested in becoming a Rubbage Ride leader please sign up here. Leaders will be expected to volunteer from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and guide a group of approximately 10-12 students to their designated clean up location.
Please note - Rubbage Ride leaders will not be signed up through Service Raleigh.
Please note - there are many other service projects that are a part of Service Raleigh and we cannot guarantee that you will be selected for the Rubbage Ride.
Experts will be on hand to answer all of your questions about alternative transportation, bike safety, waste reduction & recycling and sustainability, whether you have questions specifically about initiatives by NC State or these topics in general!
