America Recycles Day

America Recycles Day (ARD) is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encouraging Americans to recycle and to buy recycled products. Each year, millions of people become better informed about the importance of daily recycling and buying recycled products. The purpose of America Recycles Day is to continue to promote the social, environmental and economic benefits of recycling and encourage more people to join the movement toward creating a better natural environment.

NC State University will celebrates America Recycles Day (ARD) Thursday, November 15th to promote recycling and buying recycled products. Every Year NC State hosts an electronic and shredded paper drive.

DATE:  Thursday, Nov. 15th
TIME:   10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
LOCATION: 830 Main Campus Drive, Raleigh NC (Centennial Campus)

Electronics Recycling Drive* (Personal Electronics)

Synergy Recycling is an electronic recycling company based in North Carolina that safely and securely recycles spent electronics.

If it has a cord, you can bring it! See list below for types of electronics:

  • Contact NC State Surplus for state purchased property
  • Small kitchen appliances
  • TV and Computer monitors ($5/each)
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Cell phones
  • Personal handheld devices
  • CD's/ Cassettes/ USB drives/ Floppy Disks
  • Computers/ Computer parts and peripherals

Paper Shredding Drive

Paper Shredding: Shimar Recycling will accept up to 8 boxes of paper to be shredded at 50 pounds each, and will shred most documents on site depending on event participation.

  • Sensitive documents only
  • Paper should be removed from binders, binder clips and rubberbands.

In order to keep this a free event, we rely on our sponsors and volunteers. NC State employees may use their community hours to assist with this event. 

Main volunteer duties include: Directing traffic and Unloading boxes
